On cost alone, each additional fund pays your broker's commission again on every contribution, so on a flat-fee broker a small monthly amount split four ways can lose several percent to commission before anything is invested.

Each configuration shows its weighted ongoing charge, estimated withholding-tax leakage, and the annual trading cost of a €500 monthly contribution at a typical broker. That last figure is what usually decides it: every extra fund pays the commission again, so a four-fund split on a flat-fee broker costs four times what one fund does, every month, forever.

What it assumes

Trading cost assumes a fixed monthly contribution split across every holding. Buying one fund per month in rotation is cheaper and is not modelled here. Weighted leakage is an estimate built from each fund's disclosed exposure, not a figure any provider publishes.
